“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” ― Thomas Merton

December 23, 2022 was a most memorable day for the Asmau Ali Foundation. On this auspicious day, the Asmau Ali Foundation, in its continuing commitment to empower and bring smiles to the faces of the less privileged in society, held a very successful art exhibition at the iconic Ivy League Restaurant and Lounge in Wuse II, Abuja Nigeria.

The event tagged, “The holiday Art Exhibition” was uniquely conceived to raise funds to support the disabled community in Nigeria, specifically the blind. Proceeds from the art exhibition is intended for the purchase of braille for the blind.

The art exhibition had the added benefit of availing the Asmau Ali Foundation a strategic platform and opportunity to connect with the public, network with well-meaning individuals who share the same philanthropic disposition of the Asmau Ali Foundation as well as draw attention to the plight of the disabled, promote and solicit greater support for the philanthropic work of the Foundation.

The art exhibition was well attended by a broad spectrum of invited guests and art lovers who graciously and generously supported the Foundation by buying a good number of art pieces. Speaking at the art exhibition, Ms. Asmau Ali, founder of the Asmau Ali Foundation expressed heart-felt appreciation for the support, love, and enthusiasm demonstrated by attendees of the event. She assured that all proceeds from the art exhibition will be used by the foundation to support the disabled.

Asked why she chose an art exhibition as an avenue of raising funds for the disabled, she stated that “since the goal was to beautify the lives of the disabled community, it was apt to provide an object that will equally beautify the homes and offices of those generous individuals who came to support this worthy cause, hence my decision to personally curate an art exhibition.” Continuing she affirmed her belief that “art itself is a reflection of the life of the people.”

The Asmau Ali foundation is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to improve the lives of the disabled in Nigeria.
